Today, a district court judge ruled that the North Dakota pipeline, protested by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and others, could go through. However, in under an hour, the Department of Justice had issued a statement that the pipeline raises serious legal issues, for example under NEPA and related to native american sovereignty, asking for construction to remain paused.
